A stem and leaf plot is a mathematical technique usually used for collecting numerical data. It often helps finding mean, median and mode of the numbers collected. The plot above is a stem and leaf because it has the left side which is called the stem, the right side which is the leaf and the numbers come together as a collection of easy to read data.
